The ultimate day out in Rotterdam & Schiedam – my experience from Stadsvilla Mout

Schiedam is the sort of place you might not immediately expect, but that’s precisely why it’s such a pleasant surprise. During my stay at Stadsvilla Mout, I discovered just how lovely it is to combine the tranquillity and charm of Schiedam with the energy of Rotterdam—everything is close by and can be perfectly combined in a single day.

My day got off to a great start with lunch at By Ami, a modern and stylish spot where you can enjoy refined dishes in a relaxed setting.

In the evening, I went for a true Rotterdam experience at De Ballentent. Here, it’s all about conviviality and classic, hearty dishes—exactly what you’d expect from an iconic spot like this.

In between, I hopped on the Watertaxi Rotterdam, which is truly an experience in itself. Crossing the water towards the city, with views of the skyline—a unique way to arrive in Rotterdam.

Once there, I strolled through the Markthal, where architecture and food come together. Afterwards, I headed to the creative Witte de Withstraat, full of street art, galleries and cosy cafés.

To round off the day, I visited the Euromast. The view over the city and the River Maas is truly impressive and makes for a perfect end to the day.

Overnight stay
Returning to Stadsvilla Mout felt like coming home. The hotel is stylish, peaceful and welcoming—exactly what you need after a day full of new experiences. You’re just outside the hustle and bustle here, yet close to everything.

Exploring
What makes this day so enjoyable is the contrast between tranquil Schiedam and bustling Rotterdam. It is precisely this combination that gives you the feeling of having truly got away from it all.
