FINE SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability has become an increasingly important part of our mission and core values and is at the heart of our operations. All sustainability initiatives are a strong and inherent part of our day-to-day activities, to ensure the greatest possible impact. Through our inventive and sustainable approach, we hope to both inspire our guests and set an example for other hotels.

ENERGY AND WASTE

We have a number of initiatives that help conserve energy in our hotels. Firstly, our hotels run on 100% green energy. We aim to use LED lamps exclusively in order to save power, reduce UV radiation and ensure safety. We also have light sensors in the corridors and use cloth towels instead of hand dryers or paper towels in our public toilets. Wherever possible, all our hotels are insulated and have double glazing.


Our waste is separated into glass, paper and residual waste. Food waste is reduced by adapting our purchasing to demand. In addition, we give our old furniture a second life by donating it to people in need.


All hotels use water-saving shower heads, dual flush toilets and rinsers to reduce water consumption.

RESPONSIBLE PURCHASING

Wherever possible, our hotels cooperate with local suppliers for our breakfast buffet and our lunches & dinners. We have a partnership with the Van Der Kleij laundry service, which has Fairtrade and Global Organic Textile Standard certification.


We are currently in the process of purchasing new toiletries, with sustainability as an important prerequisite, and have switched to sustainable cleaning products (i.e. products that do not contain any harmful chemicals).


In all of our daily activities, we try to limit the use of paper and printing. We therefore store all invoices digitally and email the majority of our invoices to our guests. This way, we have already reduced our paper use by 80%. Sustainability is in the DNA of our staff.

COMPANY AND EMPLOYEES

We collaborate closely with the Ronald McDonald houses in Rotterdam and The Hague. These houses support the families of children who have been hospitalised, by providing accommodation close to the hospital. We support the houses in various ways:


  • an annual donation through their business clubs and a donation box in our reception area;
  • donating useful items;
  • sale of merchandise in our hotels, such as soft toys and Dopper water bottles;
  • offering guests the option to give 'night kisses' to young patients during the online booking procedure;
  • offering discounted rooms to families when the Ronald McDonald houses are full;
  • an annual employee volunteer drive to help out in one of the houses.


We have an AED in every reception area, which all of our full-time employees are trained to use so that we can potentially save lives.


We always aim for long-term contracts with our employees and support their personal and professional development so they can pursue fulfilling careers. A range of internships allows young people to gain valuable work experience. We are open to applicants from diverse backgrounds; the only requirement is that they share our core values and passion for our guests. Where possible, we also hire people with disabilities. 

OBJECTIVES

We are doing our utmost to further integrate sustainability into our hotels in areas such as the environment, responsible purchasing and social engagement. To that end, we have drawn up a sustainability policy for each hotel, so that we can clearly formulate, communicate and monitor our objectives.
